| Customer Reviews: Does bend but there's a trick to it August 28, 2010 This doll is a lot of fun. She does bend but there's a trick to it. The way I did it was I brought her to the pool and while she was in the water I tried bending her. It took a little more force than you would think, but she did bend and she does not flop around. This doll is really a lot of fun!!
Second Time Is Even Better July 12, 2010 Christine Moley (Warwick, NY) I had purchased the purple one of these dolls for my niece a few weeks ago and she loved it. So I thought I would buy the blue one for her sister who is 4. It was as big of a hit the second time around. She loved the doll and has been playing with it ever since. She thinks it magical since it changes colors in the water. The quality is ok but who expects toys to last very long as thet are meant to be played with. My other niece on my husband's side is having a birthday in a few weeks and I think I am going to purchase another one for her.
Daughter loves it! June 6, 2010 Grey Fox (Ca) Well, contrary to the other reviews, I like this doll. My 4 yr old loves this mermaid, she does bend and sit down. Her hair is thick and after she is put in water, the hair returns to pretty much neat looking. My daughter plays with her in the bath and has no complaints. I think she is well made and worth the money. We use these dolls as Merliah's friends and they are a good addition to her Barbie collection.
Complete Waste of Money May 6, 2010 Brandon Miller (Missouri) Do not waste your money on this doll! Her hair is so thin, you can see the head underneath and all of the plugs. My daughters didn't even bend in half, so she couldn't sit. The necklace doesn't sit quite right and - OVERALL - I was more diappointed in this doll than I have been in years with a Barbie product.
Inexpensive - and kind of feels that way March 27, 2010 A. J. 3 out of 3 found this review helpful
The 'costars' of the Barbie movies never seem to get much care - they aren't given the characters names or likenesses (not even close) and the quality usually falls greatly off from the main character. Honestly, they feel kind of pointless. There's not a lot of play value if the dolls don't look like the ones who talk to Merliah in the movie. And certainly their quality doesn't compare to Merliah.
This doll has a hard plastic hollow body that feels cheap and doesn't bend. The tail rotates on the base and the body bends forward - but the body has a 'bathing suit' that doesn't match the tail and looks kind of dumb when the doll is sitting. The arms and chest are also stiff plastic that just feels cheap. The face is very 'generic' Barbie doll.
The doll is inexpensive and that's really the only redeeming feature. But for twice the price, I really recommend the Mattel Barbie Splash and Style meraids. They have rubber bodies and tails that twist and bend. http://www.amazon.com/BARBIE-Splash-Style-Mermaid-Angel/dp/B0015ET6FU/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=toys-and-games&qid=1269707771&sr=8-13 Since the Co Stars are generic and not tied into the movie anyway, might as well get a mermaid that feels and looks good.
In all, I don't recommend getting this because of the DVD - it doesn't appear in the movie and doesn't look like the 'costars'. It's fine as a generic inexpensive fairy doll.
